Vacancy for: Faculty of Design

Qualifications:

The candidate is expected to:

• University degree (MA) or higher and extensive professional experience
in a related discipline of fashion design / apparel business (at least 3 years).
• Extensive knowledge of fashion engineering methodology and processes.
• Possess a technical qualification and practical work experience in the field of pattern construction
for fashion design/garment engineering.
• Practical experience with typical analogue and digital patternmaking / programs
such as Gerber, Assyst, CLO 3D. (GIU works with Gerber and CLO 3D software).
• Knowledge and demonstration of draping knowledge and skills.

Requirements:

• Craftsmanship training and working in a fashion production facility is desirable.
• Experience and awareness of sustainability and all aspects of the supply chain is desirable, as is a
strong position on cultural appropriation.
• The ability to adapt to cultural differences and cultural specificities of the facility's environment as
well as to navigate the local industry is valued, encouraged and required.
• Experience in a similar teaching role is desirable.
• Strong ability to develop pedagogical innovations and manage programmes of study.
• Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentation).
• Very good knowledge of English (oral and written), as it is the official language of instruction.
• Strong willingness to also engage in academic self-governance and take on leadership roles.
