In a groundbreaking collaboration between the German International University in New Administrative Capital (GIU) and the fashion house of Dior, GIU students initiated a remarkable project. Led by the visionary creative director and GIU faculty member “Kegham Djeghalian”, and massively supported by a team of academics including “Franziska Englberger, Miro Leczek, Youmna Ahmed, Farah Gamal and Mennatallah M. Mahmoud and Mahmoud Abo Elnaga” in the workshops and more.
The Lady Dior bag attained a mythical status; a desired emblem of fashion as well as a symbolic space of elegance, expression and creativity. Then the 'Dior Lady Art' came to life: multiple artists, especially women artists, were invited to interpret the iconography of the Lady Dior bag through their own artistic and poetic explorations resulting in a rich and eclectic repertoire of story-telling and aesthetics.
As part of the collaboration between the German International University and Christian Dior Paris, Dior × GIU Lab, 'Our Lady Dior' was a short-term design project where students were given a carte blanche to interpret the Lady Dior bag in its medium format. They were prompted to take this project as a platform to articulate their universes and sensibilities. The core concept of this project was crystalized in the following question: What would your Lady Dior be and do? What story and universe does it carry?
This project was a collaboration between the Fashion Design Depantment and the Industrial Design Depantment at GIU where students from both programs engaged in designing their own Lady Dior with their chosen mediums.
