The German International University (GIU) officially welcomed first year students during the Newcomers Orientation 2025/2026, marked by high energy and eager anticipation for the exciting journey ahead.

The GIU University Council recently visited DISK School to explore its exciting workshops! From Coding and Biology to Music, Chemistry, and Physics, this visit showcased incredible opportunities for learning and innovation. As part of the visit, the council was introduced to the Sieger Explorers Center, a pioneering initiative established by the German University in Cairo (GUC) in collaboration with DISK (Deutsche Internationale Schule in Kairo). The center is dedicated to nurturing the talents and strengths of children aged 4 to 18 through a wide range of engaging and hands-on programs.

On August 2nd, The German University in Cairo (GUC) and the German International University (GIU), and German International University in Berlin officially wrapped up the third edition of Connects 2025 with a remarkable closing ceremony held in Berlin campus, celebrating the achievements of a highly successful 10-day workshop program. This year’s edition surpassed all expectations, offering 17 specialized workshops and attracting more than 600 participants from 15 top Egyptian universities.

In a groundbreaking step toward strengthening cultural exchange between Egypt and Europe, the German International University (GIU) in Berlin hosted the first-ever exhibition of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) outside Egypt. The prestigious event welcomed high-ranking officials and diplomats from Egypt and Germany, as well as over 600 university students from eight countries participating in the third edition of the Connects 2025 program.

In a vibrant celebration of creativity, culture, and national pride, the German University in Berlin launched the third edition of its flagship program, Connects 2025, bringing together hundreds of young Egyptians and more than 600 students from Egyptian universities. The event was attended by representatives from the Egyptian Embassy in Berlin, ambassadors of several African nations, and officials from German and international institutions.

In an unforgettable achievement, the GIU Female Basketball Team has secured 1st place and won the Gold Medal at the Egyptian National University Championship - Level C! This remarkable triumph is not only a testament to their hard work and dedication but also marks a historic milestone for the team as they have qualified for Level B of the National Championship for the very first time.

Professor Dr. Slim Abdennadher, President of the GIU, and Prof. Dr. Annabella Rauscher-Scheibe, President of Hochschule Für Technik und Wirtschaft Berlin (HTW Berlin), signed the Double Degree program specifically for the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the GIU and the Bachelor of Arts in International Business at HTW. Students nominated from both universities are given the opportunity to study for one whole year in host universities (i.e. GIU students study in HTW, while HTW students study in GIU). Subjects studied are eligible for transfer once students return back to their home universities.

In a remarkable celebration of cultural fusion and creative innovation, the Fashion Design program at the German International University (GIU) proudly unveiled Echoes of Cairo—an interdisciplinary project weaving contemporary Egyptian music into streetwear fashion with a strong emphasis on sustainability.
